Wintertime in Timothy Hollow

A cozy woodland story about first winters, new friends, and finding home.

A Peek Inside the Pages
A young groundhog moves to Timothy Hollow from the South and discovers the magic of winter for the first time. Along the way, he learns about friendship, resilience, and the quiet joys of slowing down.
A Cozy Story for All Ages
Wintertime in Timothy Hollow is written as a cozy family story. It works beautifully as a read-aloud for younger children and as an independent chapter book for ages 7-10.
It also offers a nostalgic, comforting experience for adults who love gentle woodland tales.

What Fans Are Saying on Amazon!

"I was given this book as a gift. It was the most delightful story I have read in a very long time. The characters are lovable as you get to know them. It starts with a new student in the school who recently moved to Timothy Hollow. New characters are introduced periodically that are just as accepting and friendly as the rest. Spending time in Timothy Hollow in the wintertime took me back to a simpler time I miss. Now I can revisit Timothy Hollow anytime I want to go back! I look forward to new books from Timothy Hollow by the author, Leslie Balch!"

A Taste of the Story
Sable Groundhog gazed sadly out of Sycamore School's frosted windows. During the night, Jack Frost had visited Timothy Hollow, leaving his icy breath upon the glass. The little designs etched in the sparkling ice mesmerized the young groundhog, reminding him of the snow glove that sat on his teacher's desk. He frowned when he saw the red, fall leaves swirling around the play yard. He liked autumn, but he wanted winter to come.
